Super utility man Anthony Seratelli has signed on to play for the Seibu Lions of Japan's Pacific League next season.
Mets minor league free agent Anthony Seratelli, who spent the entire 2014 season at Triple-A Las Vegas, has signed on with the Seibu Lions. A 31-year-old minor league veteran, Seratelli entered spring training with a chance to earn his first spot on a major league roster with the Mets thanks to his ability to play both middle infield and the outfield. But he was edged out for a spot on the big league roster by Omar Quintanilla after hitting just .213/.229/.277 in spring training.
In 93 games for the 51s, Seratelli batted .279/.385/.414 with 5 home runs. He appeared at second base, shortstop, and all three outfield positions. Before joining the Mets organization, Seratelli spent seven years in the Kansas City Royals organization. The native of Edison, New Jersey and Seton Hall alum started his professional career in an independent league in 2006 before the joining the Royals organization the following year.
