Still in search of a veteran left-hander for their bullpen, the Mets met face-to-face with Craig Breslow in San Diego.

While the Mets' bullpen is fairly set heading into 2015, the need for a second left-hander to complement Josh Edgin is on the to-do list for general manager Sandy Alderson. The Mets prefer to add a veteran southpaw to their collection of young bullpen talent and Craig Breslow, formerly of the Boston Red Sox, is one candidate New York reportedly has interest in. According to Andy Martino of the Daily News, Breslow is in San Diego and met face-to-face with the Mets brass on Wednesday, though a deal is anything but imminent.

The 34-year-old struggled mightily in 2014 when he posted a 5.96 ERA for Boston, one year after he sported a 1.81 ERA. Breslow allowed lefties to bat .291 against him last season, a far cry from his career figures against left-handers (.235/.302/.369). The Yale University product earned $3.85 million in the second year of a two-year, $6.25 million deal he signed prior to 2013.
