While GM Sandy Alderson may be comfortable with Wilmer Flores at shortstop, that doesn't mean he won't continue to look for an upgrade.

Adam Rubin, Mets writer for ESPN New York, took to twitter last night to answer many of the questions Mets fans have been asking this offseason. The most prominent area of speculation for the Mets has been who will be the Opening Day shortstop.

Rubin said the odds of the Mets acquiring Starlin Castro or Troy Tulowitzki are minimal, and that WilmerFlores is the 55/45 favorite to start Opening Day at this time. He added that Seattle remains a viable option from whom the Mets could acquire a shortstop (Brad Miller), but it’s likely that nothing will happen until January.

If free agent shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera is still around in January, Rubin said he could definitely see the Mets making an offer if the cost is low enough. He does not believe the Mets have had conversations with the White Sox about Alexei Ramirez yet, but ESPN’s Buster Olney was told that their asking price is "steep."

Of course, GM Sandy Alderson has already said that he has no problem with Wilmer Floresstarting the season at shortstop.
