AAA -Las Vegas 51s (55-47)__________________________________

RENO 4, Las Vegas 11 (Box)

Reno and Las Vegas had another one of those games- before the game was half over, every 51s batter, including pitcher Matt Fox, had a hit. The big inning tonight came in the 4th, when the Las Vegas bats drove in six.

AA -Binghamton Mets (64-38)_____________________________________

READING 3, BINGHAMTON 6 (Box)

Mark Cohoon didn't pitch too poorly, but he coughed up runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, putting Binghamton behind in the early going. By the time the later innings came upon us, Binghamton was down 3-2. In the 6th, the B-Mets had an offensive flurry that put them ahead of the Fightin Phils. Wilfredo Tovar started the inning off with a bang, homering to left field. Muscles, Jr! A double and two walks later, the bases were loaded with no outs. The second run of the inning scored on a wild pitch. The third and fourth runs scored on a Rhyne Hughes single. Chasen Bradford and Jeff Walters locked down the 8th and 9th innings, and Binghamton notched their 64th win of the season. With his start, Mark Cohoon set the Binghamton Mets record for most innings pitched in a Binghamton Mets uniform.

NO GAME (SCHEDULE)

Short-A - Brooklyn Cyclones (16-20)

BROOKLYN 3, LOWELL 2 (Box)

In his first five starts, Dario Alvarez struck out nineteen batters. Yesterday afternoon, he struck out twelve. The Dominican lefthander mowed down batters left and right, striking out at least two batters in all but two innings he pitched. Six of his punchouts were swinging, and the other six were looking. The offense, unfortunatley, didn't do much the entire ballgame, and Alvarez was cheated out of the ‘W' he deserved to have placed next to his name. Luckily for the Cyclones, they didn't screw the pooch completely. After jumping out to a 1-0 lead early on, on a Patrick Biondi RBI single, reliever Dawrin Frias allowed a run in the 7th inning, tying the game. The Cyclones scored another in the top of the 8th, on a Tomas Nido line drive, but Frias allowed another run in the bottom of the inning, tying up the score once more. In the 9th, L.J. Mazzilli hit a double that scored the go-ahead run. Johnny Magliozzi protected the lead in the bottom of the inning, doing his best Dario Alvarez impression, striking out all three batters he faced.

Rk - Kingsport Mets (18-14)_____________________________

ELIZABETHTON 2, KINGSPORT 3 (Box)

Elizabethton got on the board first with a Mitch Garver solo home run in the top of the 2nd, but Kinsport quickly tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd with a Jeyckol De Leon groundout that scored Victor Cruzado. More damage could have been done in the inning, as the bases became juiced, but Yeixon Ruiz grounded out with two outs to end the scoring threat. Neither team did much of anything in the middle innings. Scoring resumed in the bottom of the 8th, when Jeff McNeil doubled in a run. Champ Stuart almost scored as well, but the Bahamian was thrown out at the plate. The Twins scored in the top of the 9th, tying the game back up. It would go to extra innings if someone didn't step up in the bottom of the 9th. Fortunatley, things worked out for the Mets. The first two batters got on base, and Jeyckol De Leon laced a line drive into left to walk off the game.

Rk - GCL Mets (7-22)_______________________________

GAME ONE

GCL MARLINS 0, GCL METS 3 / 7 (Box)

There lay great d'Arnaud and his bat, hidden in GCL jersey and sending out, at last, after cycles incalculable, the thoughts that spread fear to the dreams of the National League and called imperiously to the Flushing faithful to come on a pilgrimage of liberation and restoration of the team's good fortunes.

GAME TWO

GCL MARLINS 4, GCL METS 2 / 7(Box)

Star of the Night

Dario Alvarez was excellent yesterday.

Goat of the Night

There weren't any particularly futile performances last night that went above and beyond. I could pick someone who had an otherwise uninteresting poor night, but that's be a clown move. Everyone gets a reprieve for the night.
