Rockies, Mets discussing Troy Tulowitzki trade

There's not a lot of substance at this point, but it appears the Mets truly are Rockies East.

The Metsjust signed former Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer, and it appears they might not be done taking from Colorado's roster.

The two clubs have recently discussed a potential trade involving star shortstop Troy Tulowitzkiaccording to Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan. The Mets are less than confident in their ability to land the four-time All-Star, but that's not stopping them from seeing what it would take to land him, confirms Newsday's Marc Carig.

The Rockies and Mets had fairly in-depth discussions regarding Tulowitzki last summer around the time the 30-year-old slugger landed on the disabled list with a season-ending hip injury. Tulowitzki, of course, was absolutely nails during his brief time on the field in 2014, hitting .340/.432/.603 with 21 home runs in 91 games.

Tulowitzki is owed $118 million through 2020, but the steep price tag probably won't prevent the Rockies from seeking a massive haul for their Gold Glove shortstop. Colorado will likely want any deal for Tulowitzki to center around a team's top prospect -- in this case, hard-throwing right-hander Noah Syndergaard -- and multiple other young pieces.
