Free Shirt Fridays are back with some awesome designs. Other promotions include Juan Lagares bobblehead day, a Lucas Duda growth chart, a Jacob deGrom garden gnome, and a Mets fedora.
Despite being five long, cold months away from Opening Day 2015, the Mets released their Promotional Schedule for the 2015 season and it appears to be filled with some awesome free items.
The popular Free Shirt Fridays are back again in 2015 and the designs this season look pretty great. Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Juan Lagares, David Wright, and of course Mr. Met are featured on a few of the shirts, and others feature Mets logos and even the old neon ballplayer that used to grace the front of Shea Stadium. Here are the designs:
The design of the free shirt on October 2 vs. the Washington Nationals will be decided by a fan vote. Hopefully it involves something with the team clinching a playoff spot. Get on that, Mets front office! Personally, I'm already a fan of the Lagares shirt, the deGrom shirt, and really anything that involves the Shea neon ballplayers. It appears they did a pretty great job with these, even with the giant face David Wright, which I assume represents his "face of the franchise" status.
In addition to Free Shirt Fridays, the Saturday concert series, Fireworks Nights, and Family Sundays will also be returning to Citi Field throughout the year. There are three concerts scheduled for June 27, July 25, and August 15 and the acts are still to be determined at this point. Fireworks nights will be on April 18, August 1, and September 19.
It's always fun to receive promotional items at ballgames and the Mets have some great ones listed on the schedule for 2015. On May 2nd, the Mets will give away a Jacob deGrom Garden Gnome prior to the game against the Washington Nationals. The irony (or perhaps the intention) here is that the Mets played the Nats in DC last year on Jayson Werth Garden Gnome day, which happened to be quite a popular promotion. On May 16th, they'll give away a Mets fedora, so you can pretend to be your favorite beat writer or a Mets themed private investigator. July 13th features a David Wright replica jersey and for July 11th, you'll receive a Juan Lagares bobblehead.
The promotion on August 29th appears to be a pure troll move, as the team will give away a 1986 World Championship bobblehead when they're playing the Red Sox that evening. Of course their three championships over the last decade takes the sting away a bit but still, that's some A+ trolling from the Mets promotions department.
Here's a listing of some of the other promotional items the Mets will give away in 2015. Here's hoping the Lucas Duda growth chart has a succinct quote from Lucas on it.
