At the midway point of the 2013 season, the Mets' strength is undoubtedly pitching. The team's 3.88 ERA ranks 15th in the game, but its 3.74 FIP ranks 9th.

The overall numbers have improved thanks to significant improvement from the bullpen over the past several weeks. The starting rotation, though, is where the Mets have really shined. Mets starters have a 3.60 FIP for the year, the third-best mark in the game.

This week's meter covers the games played from July 8 through July 14.

Josh Edgin, LHP	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Edgin didn't allow a run in 4.1 innings, but he issued a staggering five walks and only recorded one strikeout.
Dillon Gee, RHP	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Gee made a pair of starts and allowed 6 runs, 5 of which were earned, in 13.1 innings. He had just 5 K and issued 6 BB in the process. The results were good enough, but these weren't his best starts of the year, either.
Gonzalez Germen, RHP	--	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	In his first major league outing, Germen was inserted in a tied game in extra innings and gave up the game-winning run shortly thereafter.
Matt Harvey, RHP	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	When 3 runs in 7 innings seems like a lot, a pitcher is pretty, pretty good. Harvey had 6 K and 1 BB in his last start before the break. And the All-Star Game doesn't count, but he was great in two innings there, too.

Jeremy Hefner, RHP	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Hefner made another good start, and he continues to prove he's a capable member of a major league rotation.

Zack Wheeler, RHP	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.	Visiting San Francisco, Wheeler made his best start yet in the big leagues. He allowed one run in seven innings and struck out five. He walked three, too, but was still quite efficient with his pitches.
