Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (49-35)______________________________________

LAS VEGAS 7, SALT LAKE 3 (Box)

Minor league vets and nearly name-sharers Brandon Allen and Allan Dykstra homered in support of Greg Peavey, who tossed eight innings for the second time i in three starts. Meanwhile Peavey's battery mate, Kevin Plawecki, hasn't seen his offensive numbers inflated by the PCL yet. The young catcher has been held hitless since homering in his Triple-A debut.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (49-33)______________________________________

BINGHAMTON 8, NEW BRITAIN 3 (Box)

The B-Mets are rolling right now. With their win over the Rock Cats yesterday, the team has won four in a row, six of their last seven, and eleven out of a possible 13 games in the last two weeks. Rainy Lara stifled New Britain for six innings and would have kept them off the board entirely were it not for one fat pitch that wound up on the wrong side of the left-center field fence.

RF Kyle Johnson: 0-4, R, K, HBP

  • 2B Dilson Herrera: 1-4, R, BB
  • 1B Jayce Boyd: 1-4, 2 R, RBI, BB

  • LF Brandon Nimmo: 1-5, R, 2 K
  • DH Travis Taijeron: 0-3, R, BB, 3 K, HBP, CS
  • CF Darrell Ceciliani: 2-5, R, 2 K
  • C Xorge Carrillo: 1-4, K
  • SS Rylan Sandoval: 2-4, 3 RBI, E
  • RHP Rainy Lara: 6 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 5 K, HR

High-A - St. Lucie Mets (47-32)______________________________________

ST. LUCIE 5, BRADENTON 2 (Box)

The John Lannan comeback tour played an encore engagement in Port St. Lucie last night. While this start was several magnitudes better than his last, a disaster appearance in which he walked four and retired just one batter, it still wasn't a good performance: six hits allowed in three and a third innings. Kevin McGowan closed out the game with five-plus shutout frames and was the beneficiary of a pair of timely run-scoring hits off the bat of Eudy Pina.

  • CF Gilbert Gomez: 2-5, R, HR, RBI, 2 K
  • DH L.J. Mazzilli: 1-3, RBI, BB, SB, CS
  • C Cam Maron: 0-2, 2 BB, K

  • 3B Jeff McNeil: 0-4
  • RF Eudy Pina: 3-4, R, 3B, 3 RBI, K
  • LHP John Lannan: 3.1 IP 6 H, 2 ER, K
  • RHP Kevin McGowan: 5.2 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K

Low-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (52-26)_____________________________________

SAVANNAH 8, ROME 1 (Box)

While the Mets and Braves just started a three-game set, their affiliates wrapped up a four-game series. Twas a productive one for the Sand Gnats, too, as they swept the Rome Braves out of Historic Grayson Stadium. Matt Oberste, who went four-for-four with a homer on Sunday, was again impossible to retire. Penciled in to the line up as the designated hitter, Oberste rapped out three hits, walked twice, and went deep for his second homer of the season.

Savannah's starter, Dario Alvarez, doesn't have enough innings to quality for the Sally League leader board, but ERA currently sits at 0.96, a mark that would easily pace the circuit by a full run and change.

  • SS Yeixon Ruiz: 1-4, R, BB, K
  • CF Champ Stuart: 2-4, 2 R, BB
  • 1B Dominic Smith: 3-5, 2 R, 2B, RBI
  • DH Matt Oberste: 3-3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB
  • 3B Cole Frenzel: 2-3, 2B, RBI, BB, K, E
  • RF Victor Cruzado: 2-5, R, RBI, SB
  • C Colton Plaia: 0-4, K
  • LF Stefan Sabol: 0-4, K
  • 2B Jonathan Johnson: 0-4, 2 K
  • LHP Dario Alvarez: 5 IP, 2 H, BB, 8 K
  • RHP Akeel Morris: 1 IP, BB, K

Short Season-A - Brooklyn Cyclones (11-6)___________________________________

NO GAME (Scheduled off-day)

Rookie - Kingsport Mets (6-6)______________________________________

KINGSPORT 7, JOHNSON CITY 4 (Game One) (Box)

Kingsport took the first game of this rain-induced doubleheader at Howard Johnson Field, which, despite the name, is actually the home park of the Johnson City Cardinals. The offense, so potent in the afternoon tilt, wilted as the day went on.

Small sample size, of course, but Wuilmer Becerra is doing his best to make the R.A. Dickey trade look even more lopsided. He's currently batting .310/.333/.483 (a line aided by a ridiculous .421 BABIP).

  • SS Luis Guillorme: 2-5, R, RBI
  • CF Ivan Wilson: 3-5, R, 2 K, SB
  • LF Osward Caraballo: 1-5, R, HR, 2 RBI, K
  • DH Eudor Garcia: 1-3, R, 2 K, HBP
  • PR-DH Braden Kaupe: 0-1, R
  • 1B Zach Mathieu: 0-2, 2 BB
  • 2B Jean Rodriguez: 3-4, R
  • RF Wuilmer Becerra: 1-3, R, RBI, K
  • C Jose Garcia: 2-3, RBI, BB
  • 2B Leon Canelon: 0-3, BB, K
  • RHP Andrew Church: 4.2 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, BB, 0 K

JOHNSON CITY 3, KINGSPORT 2 (Game Two) (Box)

  • SS Luis Guillorme: 0-3
  • DH Ivan Wilson: 0-3, K
  • RF Oswald Caraballo: 1-3, R, K
  • 3B Pedro Perez: 2-3, R, 2B
  • 1B Luis Ortega: 2-3, 2 RBI, SB
  • PH Wuilmer Becerra: 0-1, K
  • 2B Branden Kaupe: 0-0, 2 BB
  • RHP Andrew Massie: 4 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, 5 K

Rookie - Gulf Coast Mets (4-5)______________________________________

GCL NATIONALS 3, GCL METS 2 (Box)

  • CF John Mora: 2-3, R, 2B, BB
  • LF Enmanuel Zabala: 1-4, 2B
  • 1B Dash Winningham: 0-3, BB, K
  • C Darryl Knight: 1-3, R, 2B, K
  • SS Milton Ramos: 1-3, RBI
  • DH Dale Burdick: 1-3, SB
  • LHP Blake Taylor: 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, K

Outside the continental forty-eight, DSL Mets1 won and DSL Mets2 lost.

Star of the Night
Matt Oberste hasn't made an out since Saturday. That's a star-worthy streak, even if his hair (as seen in the photo accompanying this post) looks decidedly goatish.

Goat of the Night
I think you better call Travis Taijeron and tell him I said, "come on." Three Ks and a caught stealing earns him the horns.
