The Mets committed three errors in the eighth inning and blew a 3-1 lead. No happy endings here.

The Mets blew a late 3-1 lead in horrific fashion, committing three errors en route to allowing four runs in the eighth inning.

The most costly error came when Jeurys Familia threw a sure double play ball off the bat of Chris Johnson into the dirt in front of second base, setting up bases loaded with no outs instead of a runner on third with two outs. The Braves tied it up on the next play. Tommy La Stella singled home a run and another run scored when Juan Lagares uncharacteristically bobbled the ball in center field.

A few batters later, the Braves scored the decisive run when Eric Campbell boofed a ground ball off the bat of Andrelton Simmons. Dana Eveland relieved Familia and walked Freddie Freeman with the bases loaded to make it 5-3. The Mets didn't stand a chance against Craig Kimbrel in the bottom of the ninth inning. This was probably the worst loss of the season.

The Mets scored one run in each of the first three innings, the first coming on a solo home run by Curtis Granderson to start the game. However, they managed just two baserunners over the final six innings. Zack Wheeler was not sharp, walking five in 6.1 innings of work, but he limited the damage, allowing just one run.
