The Mets lost for the third time in four games in Pittsburgh.
Bartolo Colon’s string of excellent pitching came to an end in Pittsburgh this afternoon as the Mets lost to the Pirates. Colon gave up three runs in the first and two in the fourth, but he was able to complete six innings as pitched efficiently in the innings in which he did not give up runs.
At the plate, the Mets were nearly shut out despite a whole bunch of hits on the afternoon. They finally broke through for two runs in the ninth inning, but their rally came up three runs short when Curtis Granderson, who represented the potential game-tying run, flew out to right field.
