Triple-A - Las Vegas 51's (47-33)_______________________________________
SACRAMENTO 7, LAS VEGAS 5 (Box)
This game was televised on the CBS Sports Network as I'm sure many of you are aware. It offered us a chance to get a look at Noah Syndergaard in high definition, which was exciting. Unfortunately, Thor was disappointing on this night, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks in four innings. He cruised through the first two innings but ran into serious trouble in the third and fourth when the fastball command let him down. He sat mostly 95-97, mixing in the curve and the occasional changeup. The curve looks like an outstanding pitch. He's able to throw it for strikes and got a couple of strikeouts with it. I just wish he would throw it more because he seemed to be overly reliant on the fastball. The changeup did not look great to me. He rarely threw it and when he did it wasn't near the zone, although he did get a couple of swings and misses on it. Overall, it was pretty lackluster performance but you could definitely see the potential that's there.
- CF Matt den Dekker: 2-5, 2B, K
- SS Matt Reynolds: 2-4, 2 RBI, K
- 2B Wilmer Flores: 0-5
- DH Allan Dykstra: 0-5, 2 K
- RF Andrew Brown: 1-5, R, HR, RBI, 2 K
- 1B Brandon Allen: 0-3, R, BB
- C Kevin Plawecki: 1-4, R, HR, RBI
- 3B Josh Satin: 1-4, R, K
- LF Cory Vaughn: 2-4, R, K
- OF Cesar Puello: DNP
- RHP Noah Syndergaard: 4 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
Double-A - Binghamton Mets (45-33)_____________________________________
BINGHAMTON 1, ALTOONA 3 (Box)
- 3B Brian Burgamy: 0-4
- 1B Jayce Boyd: 0-4
- LF Darrell Ceciliani: 1-3, RBI, K
- 3B Dustin Lawley: 0-2, R, 2 BB, 2 K
- PH Brandon Nimmo: 1-3, 2B; As I said on the podcast this week, Nimmo has a lot to gain with a strong second half performance. If he puts up respectable numbers and displays solid strike zone discipline then starting 2015 in Triple-A is likely, which means the majors are only 2,235 miles away (no way they're getting out of Vegas).
- SS Dilson Herrera: 0-4, 3 K
- RHP Hansel Robles: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (4-3 / 44-32)_____________________________________
ST. LUCIE 2, FORT MYERS 3 (Box) / Suspended
This game was suspended in the fifth, presumably due to rain, and will be completed tomorrow. It may have cut short the rehab start of Cory Mazzoni, who is making his way back from a triceps injury he sustained late on in spring training. I'm a Mazzoni fan and think he could end up being a decent bullpen piece at minimum down the road. His ultimate destination is likely Las Vegas given that he's already logged 146.2 innings in Double-A.
- SS Gavin Cecchini: 1-2, R, 2B
- 3B Jeff McNeil: 0-2
- 2B L.J. Mazzilli: 1-2
- DH Jairo Perez: 0-2, K
- C Cam Maron: 1-2, K
- 1B Aderlin Rodriguez: 0-2
- CF Gilbert Gomez: 1-3, K
- LF Malkis De La Cruz: 1-2
- RF Eudy Pina: 1-2, R, HR, RBI
- RHP Cory Mazzoni: 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Low-A -Savannah Sand Gnats(4-4 / 48-26)__________________________________
SAVANNAH 0, CHARLESTON 9 (Box)
This is how I feel about the Savannah roster since all the promotions went down; there are only two players I find worthy to report on. They've gone from one of the more intriguing affiliates to perhaps the least. That said, I really like Champ Stuart and hope he starts striking a bit less.
- CF Champ Stuart: 0-3, BB, 3 K
- RHP John Gant: 5 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 2 K
Short-A -BrooklynCyclones(10-4)__________________________________
ABERDEEN 2, BROOKLYN 6 (Box)
In lieu of commentary from me, who's just looking at a box score, here's some actually information from someone who was at the game:
#Mets RHP Casey Meisner working mostly 88-91 tonight; confidence in soft, slurvy breaking ball. Cross-fire delivery; long way to go w/ cmnd
— Jason Parks (@ProfessorParks) June 27, 2014
Rosario is a good FB hitter; not as good against soft/spin. I like him. RT @rcioce2006: @ProfessorParks what do u think of Ahmed Rosario?
— Jason Parks (@ProfessorParks) June 27, 2014
- CF Tucker Tharp: 2-5, R, 2B
- SS Amed Rosario: 1-5, R, RBI, K
- C Tomas Nido: 1-4, RBI
- LF Michael Katz: 2-5, R, RBI
- RF Michael Bernal: 0-3, R, K
- 3B Jhoan Urena: 1-5, R, 2B, RBI
- RHP Casey Meisner: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 7 K, 2 HR allowed
Rookie -Kingsport Mets(5-3)__________________________________
KINGSPORT 5, PRINCETON 4 (Box) / 17 innings
This is the kind of game that makes you think they should allow ties in rookie ball. These teams combined for 38 strikeouts, including 23 for Kingsport.

- PH-LF Oswaldo Caraballo: 2-4, 2B, K

- 1B Zach Mathieu: 1-5, R, HR, RBI, 3 K
- CF Ivan Wilson: 1-6, 2B, BB, 4 K
- RF Wuilmer Becerra: 1-7, R, 2B, 2 K
- PR-3B Branden Kaupe: 0-4, K
- RHP Gaby Almonte: 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
Rookie -GCL Mets(3-3)__________________________________
GCL CARDINALS 3, GCL METS 0 (Box)

- LF Emmanuel Zabala: 0-4
- 2B Alfredo Reyes: 1-4
- RF Jose Figuera: 1-3, BB
- C Dionis Rodriguez: 0-4, K
- SS Milton Ramos: 0-2; Ramos may not be hitting but at least he's *coughconfortocough* playing.
- P Audry German: 4 IP, 2 H, BB, 2 K
- RHP Jose Medina: 2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, K; It needs to be noted that Medina is 17 years-old and will be until late August. Last year in the DSL, he posted a strikeout rate of 7.1 and a walk rate 1.04 for a 0.35 ERA in 52 innings.
Star of the Night
Not a lot to choose from so let's go with Casey Meisner.
Goat of the Night
Dilson Herrera, who received a harsh reminder that Double-A is supposed to be harder than High-A. Honorable mention to Noah Syndergaard, who looks like he still has some work left to do.
