Norfolk & Frederick earn victories, Bowie gets blown out, and Delmarva comes out on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel.
Indianapolis (Pirates) 1 Norfolk 2
A trio of Tides pitchers limited the Indianapolis squad to just 5 hits and 2 walks on the night, while striking out 8. The defense chucked the ball around the field, committing 3 errors, but they also managed to turn two inning ending double plays. (RF) Francisco Peguero knocked a double and scored a run. Jemile Weeks&Brett Wallace each hit a single and drew a walk.
Binghamton (Mets) 12 Bowie 4
Jake Petit lasted just an inning and a third after spotting Binghamton 6 ERs. Jason Gurka came on and put in 4.2 innings of scoreless relief to give the Baysox a chance to get back in the game, but the rest of the 'pen proved not up to the task and yielded 6 more runs. (DH) Nolan Reimold went 2 for 3 in the game, including a double, a 2 run HR, and a walk. Christian Walker and Dariel Alvarez were each held to 0 for 4s on the night. Michael Ohlman went 2 for 4 at the plate, but 0 for 2 throwing out base stealers from behind it.
Frederick 8 Carolina (Cleveland) 6 (10 innings)
(2B) Sammie Starr finished a HR short of a cycle and drove in 2. (RF) Mike Yastrzemski created some offense by going 1 for 3 with a stolen base and 2 runs driven in. He scored the go ahead run in the 10th after a Tucker Nathans single. Fellow recent promotee, Trey Mancini took and 0 for 5 along with Adrian Marin, who added 2 Ks to his own ledger. (LF) Michael Burgess hit a solo HR in the 9th to cut the lead at the time to one. He also earned an OF Assist by throwing a runner out at 3rd. Mark Blackmar went 6 innings and allowed 4 ERs while K'ing 3. Matt Hobgood pitched two 'Ubald-ian' innings of relief, walking 4 and allowing 2 ERs. Matt Price closed it out with two scoreless innings.
Lexington (Kansas City) 1 Delmarva 0
Steven Brault gave the Shorebirds a masterful 7 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 2 HBPs while striking out 7. Teh lone run came about after a 1 out HBP was followed by a double, and then a Sac Fly. Jon Keller finished the game out with two scoreless innings of work. The offense had chances, putting 11 runners on base, but failed to capitalize thanks to 2 GIDPs, a pickoff, and an 0 for 5 performance with runners in scoring position. (3B) Drew Dosch and ( C ) Chance Sisco each went 1 for 3 with a walk drawn.
Brooklyn (Mets) 7 Aberdeen 6
(LHP) Stephen Tarpley's first two starts have not gone well. After going just 4 in his first start he would go just 2.1 innings in this game after allowing 4 ERs via 6 hits, 3 walks, and a HBP. (RHP) Alex Santana came on and tossed 4.2 innings of gas, striking out 7 and not allowing a baserunner. (RHP) Derrick Bleeker followed and gave up 3 ER thanks to 5 hits in the 1 inning he pitched. ( C ) Alex Murphy has started off pretty hot at the plate. He hit his first HR of the season in the 1st inning, but finished 1 for 5 on the night. (3B) Hector Veloz put forth and 0 for 4 effort that included 3 Ks. (SS) Justin Viele knocked two base hits and drew a walk from the lead off slot. He added a stolen base as well. (CF) Jay Gonzalez went 0 for 2, but did draw 2 walks.

20 year old (LHP) Kevin Grendell tossed 5 scoreless innings, giving up just 1 hit and 2 walks. (CF) Daniel Franco and (2B) Oscar Vasquez each went 2 for 3 with a walk drawn from the 1-2 spots of the order. Rehabbing Rule 5 pick Michael Almanzer went 0 for 3 with 2 Ks at the plate and committed 2 throwing errors at 3B. 17 year old 1B/3B Jomar Reyes went 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored.

Juan Valez allowed just 1 unearned run over 5 innings. Every Oriole earned at least 1 basehit, with 5 of them having multi-hit games. 17 year old (1B/DH) Carlos Diaz went 3 for 6. 19 year old (CF) Carlos Jean went 2 for 2 with 3 walks drawn and a HBP.

(CF) Luis Chaves went 2 for 4 with a double and a triple and scored 2 runs. (1B) Raul Acosta also managed a 2 for 4 day and drove in 1 run. (RF) Manuel de los Santos went 0 for 3, but drew a walk and (more importantly) earned 2 OF Assists. 5 innings of 1 run, 5 K pitching from 19 year old Columbian righty Yeizer Marrugo. 3 scoreless innings of relief from 18 year old Venezuelan Angelo Palumbo.
