The Mets' pitching staff had a good week, even though Matt Harvey wasn't quite as dominant as usual. For the season, the Mets' starting rotation has a 3.63 FIP that ranks 3rd in all of baseball, trailing just the otherworldly rotations of the Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals. The bullpen remains in the bottom-five in baseball in ERA and FIP, but it has been gradually improving for a few weeks now.

David Aardsma, RHPHe had been very good since he joined the Mets, but Aardsma had a bad week. That'll happen to even the best of relief pitchers, though.
Scott Atchison, RHPHe's still on the disabled list after suffering a groin injury the same day he came off the disabled list in June.
Greg Burke, RHP--Called up again this week, Burke struggled over 2.2 innings of work.
Josh Edgin, LHPThe strikeouts still aren't there for Edgin like they were in the past, but he made 5 appearances and did not allow a run.
Dillon Gee, RHPGee's been on a roll for a while now, and his start this week was no exception. He's been a big reason the Mets' starting rotation is such a strength.
Matt Harvey, RHPWell, not every start can be perfect. Harvey still struck out 9 in 6 innings, but he was charged with five runs in the process.
LaTroy Hawkins, RHPOver the course of the season, Hawkins has quietly been one of the best pitchers in the Mets' bullpen. This week: 5 IP, 5 K, 2 BB, 1 R.
Jeremy Hefner, RHPIn a pair of starts, Hefner threw 14 innings with 14 K, 3 BB, and just 2 runs and 6 hits allowed. That's a 1.29 ERA with 9.00 K/9 and 1.93 BB/9 for the week. Excellent.
Brandon Lyon, RHPAfter giving up a run on the 4th, Lyon was designated for assignment.
Shaun Marcum, RHPThings just aren't going well for Marcum, who surrendered nine runs—eight of which were earned—in 11 innings on a staggering 17 hits with 5 K and 4 BB.
Jon Niese, LHPNiese is scheduled for a follow-up MRI on his shoulder today.
Bobby Parnell, RHPParnell was nearly perfect in 5 innings of work, allowing just one baserunner on a walk.
Scott Rice, LHPRice has mostly struggled for the past couple of months, and this week was no exception.
Carlos Torres, RHPWith 4.2 scoreless innings over this stretch, Torres has a 0.66 ERA and 2.70 FIP in 13.2 innings with the Mets. He's shown he can be effective in multiple-inning outings, too, which is a plus.
Zack Wheeler, RHPWheeler's fourth big league start wasn't great, but it was better than his previous two. The most encouraging thing about it was his 10.2% swinging strike rate. The average for MLB starting pitchers is 8.6%.
