Meets the Mets
The Mets were beaten yesterday afternoon by the lowly San Diego Padres, whose starting pitcher Jesse Hahn—as you may have heard—was once high school teammates with Matt Harvey. Zack Wheeler gave up four runs in five innings, and the Mets got just two hits and wasted the opportunities they had with men on base. It all felt pretty familiar. But they'll go for the series victory against San Diego this afternoon, which would be their first series victory since completing their five-game visit to Philadelphia at the beginning of June. Somehow they're still just five-and-a-half games out of first place in the National League East.
