Noah Syndergaard got some positive news yesterday as he only has a sprained a/c joint in his non-pitching shoulder and should only be out for about a week. Dillon Gee is throwing in Florida, while Eric Young Jr had a setback in his return from a hamstring injury.

The Mets want Matt Harvey to slow down his rehab from Tommy John surgery and as part of that, he will not throw off a mound on Tuesday as planned. Harvey has not had a setback but they'd like him to be more cautious.

Former Mets catcher Paul Lo Ducahopped on WFAN yesterday and had some nasty things to say about ex-GM Omar Minaya and the Mets current catchers. Speaking of the current catchers, Travis d'Arnaud says that his play has been "unacceptable". Terry Collins is still preaching patience with his young backstop.

Rounds 11-40 of the MLB Draft continue today and Mets officials Paul DePodesta and Tommy Tanous are very happy with who they've gotten in the first 10 rounds, especially with their first rounder Michael Conforto. To keep up with the results, make sure you bookmark our handy Draft Pick Tracker, which will be updated all day today.

Mets 5th round pick Josh Prevost is a local kid, drafted out of Seton Hall and hailing from Belle Mead, NJ. He also had to deal with the passing of his father earlier this year.

Anthony Rizzo continued his hot hitting by launching a walk-off home run to sink the Marlins. The Philliesblanked the Reds 8-0 behind Cole Hamels, and the Nationalsdowned the Padres 6-0 behind the excellent pitching of Tanner Roark.

Around the Majors

Sad news for rehabbing ex-Mets pitcher Johan Santana who tore his Achilles tendon fielding a groundball. Looks like he's done for the season and you wonder if a setback like that could be a career ender.

The Yankees have made their drafts into a family affair and that's probably a bad idea.

How about this: a clerical error apparently led the Phillies to trade outfield prospect Domingo Santana to the Astros in the Hunter Pence trade a couple of years back. Santana is hitting well in AAA at 21 and could make it up to the majors for Houston this year.
