Buster Posey's two-run home run in the eighth inning off Carlos Torres broke a 2-2 tie as the Giants took game one of the series. Both Jon Niese and Matt Cain pitched seven strong innings, but Cain's bullpen was better tonight.
The Mets managed just four total hits but actually led this game 2-1 at one point, following Daniel Murphy's two-run home run in the seventh inning. It looked like our boys might win a road game against the current best team in the league. However, the lead was short-lived, as Brandon Crawford singled home Brandon Hicks in the bottom of the seventh to tie it up, 2-2.
After Posey's home run, Sergio Romo threw an effortless one-two-three ninth inning to close it out. At least it was a quick game (two hours, 17 minutes).
