The right-handed batting Brown is expected to be activated in time for Thursday's game in Chicago. A corresponding move to demote a bullpen arm is expected.
As reported on Twitter, the Mets have dispatched Las Vegas 51s' outfielder Andrew Brown to Chicago and plan to activate him on Thursday.
The team's bench has been a player shy ever since Dana Eveland arrived this past Sunday as an antidote to a taxed bullpen. It is anticipated that either Eveland or right-handed pen mate Buddy Carlyle will be sent back to Las Vegas upon Brown's activation, as the relief corps has grown to eight.
Both Eveland and Carlyle have appeared in one game thus far with the Mets in 2014. It will be interesting to see who the Mets tap for demotion, as both have appeared in one game this season without allowing a run. Carlyle handled himself particularly well, throwing three innings against Philadelphia this past Saturday, allowing three hits and walking one.
In 36 games this season, the right-handed Brown has batted .359 with 13 home runs, 31 RBI, and a 1.178 OPS.
