The Mets won in extra innings again in Philadelphia.
For the third time in as many days, the Mets and Phillies went to extra innings, and for the second time in as many days, the Mets won. Jon Niese was very good, allowing just two runs in eight innings of work with six strikeouts and just one walk.
The Mets managed a sacrifice fly in the fourth and another one in the sixth to tie the game, and the team’s bullpen once again kept the game alive for the lineup. And after a two-out walk of Travis d’Arnaud in the eleventh, Lucas Duda—who had entered the game in the bottom of the tenth inning—hit a long home run to center field to put the Mets up 4-2. Jenrry Mejia came on for the ninth and allowed a one-out solo home run to Marlon Byrd but nothing else to finish off the victory.
