Meet the Mets
Masahiro Tanaka shut down the Mets' offense on Wednesday night in the first of two at Citi Field after seeing the Mets sweep the Yankees in their two games in the Bronx. Rafael Montero made his debut for the Mets, giving up three runs in six innings of work, including three strikeouts and two walks. Both Yangervis Solarte and Mark Teixeira went deep on Montero. The bullpen gave up a run of its own, and the Yankees rolled to a 4-0 victory to move the series to two games to one in favor of the Mets.

The Subway Series ends tonight at Citi Field when both teams will see major league debuts for their starters. It will be 24-year-old right-hander Chase Whitley for the Yankees versus 25-year-old right-hander Jacob deGrom for the Mets. The game gets underway at 7:10 EST.
