It was a mostly good week for the Mets' lineup as they visited Philadelphia for one game and Colorado for four.
The Mets had a good week at the plate over the course of five road games, posting a 127 wRC+ as a team, the sixth-best mark in baseball over the last week. Though they only hit two home runs, they hit .291 with a .368 on-base percentage and .425 slugging percentage as a group. A couple of regulars struggled, but several hitters were very good.
Player | Last Week | This Week | Comment |
---|---|---|---|
Bobby Abreu, OF | Abreu only made four plate appearances, but he did just fine in them. Perhaps he’s at least a viable pinch hitter. | ||
Travis d’Arnaud, C | After a few good weeks, d’Arnaud was one of the few Mets regulars who didn’t hit well. | ||
Lucas Duda, 1B | Duda didn’t rake quite as much as some of his teammates did, but he still hit .364/.500/.455 in four games. The Dude abides. | ||
Curtis Granderson, RF | Here’s hoping a visit to Colorado was all Granderson needed to get on a roll. He hit .368/.455/.526 over the five games the Mets played this week. | ||
Juan Lagares, CF | Back from the disabled list, Lagares picked up right where he left off. He posted a .435 wOBA for the week, which is good even within the confines of Coors Field. | ||
Daniel Murphy, 2B | Despite a couple of head-scratching mistakes on the basepaths, Murphy had a great week, hitting .417/.440/.625 with three doubles and a triple. | ||
Kirk Nieuwenhuis, OF | -- | To make room the activated Lagares, Nieuwenhuis was sent back to Triple-A Las Vegas. | |
Omar Quintanilla, SS | In five at-bats, Quintanilla did not reach base. | ||
Anthony Recker, C | In his one start of the week, Recker went 2-for-5 with a double and a pair of rib-eye steaks. | ||
Josh Satin, 1B | Satin didn’t hit much but managed a .444 on-base percentage for the week. #HAIL? | ||
Ruben Tejada, SS | Tejada continued to not hit. He drew three walks, all of which were officially unintentional. Of the 33 shortstops with at least 50 plate appearances this season, Tejada’s 47 wRC+ is tied with Jose Reyes for 27th place. | ||
David Wright, 3B | The Mets are a couple games over .500 despite a slow start from their captain. Wright had just a .267 wOBA for the week. | ||
Chris Young, OF | The Mets’ best hitter for the week, at least among starting players, Young hit .421/.522/.579 and scored seven runs. He stole a couple of bases, too. | ||
Eric Young Jr., OF | It was a rough week for Young, who hit just .167/.286/.167 before hitting the bench in favor of Juan Lagares and getting hit in the face by a baseball during batting practice on Sunday. |
