Meet the Mets
It was a long, long weekend, but the Mets were able to escape Colorado with their lives a win on Sunday. The amazing Dillon Gee finally stifled the Rockies bats that had tormented our boys during the first three games of the season, and the Mets came away with a 5-1 win.

In addition to an outstanding pitching performance, Gee wasn't too shabby on defense.
Because the Mets are not allowed to have a full stable of healthy outfielders, Eric Young Jr. was hit in the face with a foul ball during batting practice. The diagnosis is a contusion of the right cheek bone, and he has reportedly passed a concussion test. There's no word yet on whether or not the injury will require a trip to the disabled list, but Young is currently considered day-to-day. Get well soon, EY.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis is also banged up after hitting his elbow against the outfield wall in Las Vegas's game at Tacoma. It sounds like he'll be back in action soon, though.
After a couple of rough starts, one of which was at Coors Field, the "Jenrry Mejia to the bullpen" drum is starting to beat again. It is loud, annoying, and mostly pointless unless the Mets decide that either Noah Syndergaard or Rafael Montero is ready for the majors right now.
Another pitcher who got roughed up in Denver is Kyle Farnsworth. Terry Collins says that the veteran is still the team's closer even though he has allowed four runs in his last four appearances.
The Mets may have been on the road on May 4, but the team is offering a Travis d'Arnaud Jedi bobblehead to fans who purchase tickets to Citi Field's Star Wars Night on July 11.
Around the NL East
The Phillies took two out of three from the Nationals over the weekend, and yesterday they got a splendid performance from the pitcher formerly known as Fausto Carmona.
The Braves are still in first place in the division even after suffering back-to-back sweeps at the hands of the Marlins and Giants. Gavin Floyd is going to make his debut with Atlanta on Tuesday in place of Ervin Santana, who should only miss one start with a thumb injury. After that, Floyd could be headed to the bullpen.
The Marlins have won five of six games since the Mets last saw them a week ago. Yesterday versus the Dodgers, Giancarlo Stanton continued his excellent play with a pair of home runs, and Jeff Baker whacked a walk-off double to clinch a 5-4 win.
Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos is almost fully recovered from a broken hand. He hit a home run in a rehab game this weekend and is about a week or so away from being taken off the disabled list.
Around the Majors
Wil Myers hit an inside-the-park home run to help Tampa Bay defeat the Yankees 5-1. Hey, where was the right fielder on that play? Looks like you might actually be able to #BlameBeltran for this one.
While the Marlins were celebrating their latest win, Yasiel Puig was in a heap of pain. The outfielder sustained head and leg injuries during his brave attempt at a catch on the final play of the game. For now, Puig is day-to-day.
Corey Kluber set an Indians record with seven straight strikeouts during his team's heartbreaking loss to the White Sox on Sunday.

On this date in 2004, Mike Piazza broke Carlton Fisk's record for most all-time home runs by a catcher.
