Triple-A - Las Vegas 51's (18-7)_______________________________________
RENO 3, LAS VEGAS 0 (Box)
The 51s shut out at home? That's probably a once or twice a season occurrence. The good news is that Juan Lagares continued his rehab unscathed. The bad news is that Cesar Puello was the one who was benched to make way for Lagares. My preference is for Puello to play everyday.
- REHAB ALERT: CF Juan Lagares: 1-4, K
- OF Cesar Puello: DNP; *sigh* Some are speculating he must be hurt. That's the only thing that could make me understand him not playing everyday.
- LF Matt den Dekker: 0-4, 2 K
- PH Wilmer Flores: 0-1
- SS Danny Muno: 1-3, K
- RF Andrew Brown: 1-3, 2B, BB
- 1B Allan Dykstra: 0-4, K
- 3B Zach Lutz: 0-4, K
- PH Brandon Allen: 0-0
- IF Anthony Seratelli: DNP
- C Juan Centeno: 1-4
- LHP Dana Eveland: 5.2 IP, 6 H, R, ER, BB, 8 K
- RHP Vic Black: 1 IP, H, R, 2 BB
- RHP Erik Goeddel: IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
Double-A - Binghamton Mets (12-9)_____________________________________
BINGHAMTON 0, AKRON 4 (Box)
I don't really have too much to add to the above scoreline. Matt Reynolds continued his hot start with three hits, but they were offset by the two errors he made that remind us that shortstop is probably not his home. Jayce Boyd went 0-for-3 lowering his average to .177. Binghamton is going to continue to be uninteresting until the guy below gets promoted.
- OF Kyle Johnson: DNP
- 2B Brian Burgamy: 0-4
- SS Matt Reynolds: 3-4, 3B, K, 2 E
- 1B Matt Clark: 0-4, K
- LF Cory Vaughn: 1-4, 2 K
- C Kevin Plawecki: 0-3, K
- RF Travis Taijeron: 0-3, 3 K
- 3B Dustin Lawley: 0-3, 3 K
- IF Wilfredo Tovar: DNP
- RHP Tyler Pill: 5 IP, 3 H, R, ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (14-10)________________________________________
CHARLOTTE 4, ST. LUCIE 7 (Box)
Is it too soon to get excited? Because I'm excited. When I checked the box score last night and saw that Nimmo was 2-2 with a double, my first thought was, man, they can't get this guy out right now. And that was before he singled in his next at-bat, at which point I was just looking for things to nit-pick. He's hitting too many singles, he's not hitting for enough pop, his ISO is only .103, etc. When he homered in his fourth plate appearance, it was almost as though he were scoffing directly at me and my nit-picky criticisms. His fourth hit in four trips to the dish, a home run no less, sent Mets twitter into a frenzy that mostly went something like this, "I know it's only April, but this is awesome!" Pretty much. It was his second home run of the season, already matching his total from a season ago (a low bar). His four strikeout-less plate appearances tonight lowered his strikeout rate to 17.4%, down from 27.3% a year ago. His walk rate is up to 20.9%. He's hitting .407. His on-base percentage is well over .500. I'm excited, is what I'm saying.
It is worth pointing out that we're still in small sample size territory here. He's probably not going to continue to have an on-base percentage over .500. At this point last year, Nimmo was hitting .337/.437/.453. We all know what happened after that. Chances are they will want him to sustain this level of success after going through the league a few times. I still think the all-star break is the most likely time for the PROMOAT.
- DH Dilson Herrera: 0-3, R, BB
- CF Brandon Nimmo: 4-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI
- 2B T.J. Rivera: 2-4, R, 2B, RBI, K
- 1B Aderlin Rodriguez: 1-4, R, HR, RBI, 2 K
- RF Eudy Pina: 1-2, R, HR, RBI, 2 BB
- SS Phil Evans: 1-4
- LF Maikis De La Cruz: 0-4
- RHP Matthew Koch: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K; Those are the first two walks Koch has issued this season. In 82.1 innings last year, he walked just four.

Star of the Night
Is it even a question?
Goat of the Night
Dustin Lawley and Travis Taijeron both struck out in each of their three at-bats. One horn for each.
