Jarrod Saltalamacchia's 10th inning home run clinched a victory for the Marlins as the Mets lost what could've been an easily winnable game.

Fresh off of a fun walkoff victory on Friday evening, it felt like the Mets had a good shot to win tonight with Jenrry Mejia on the hill. The Mets took a quick lead but gave it all back and then lost in ten innings, 7-6 to the Marlins.

Thanks to a David Wright sacrifice fly and Bobby Abreu's first home run of the season, a two-run bomb to right field, the Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead. After Lucas Duda plated two in the third inning with a single to put the Mets up 5-1, it looked like there might be a laugher at Citi Field. Well, not exactly. Jenrry Mejia cruised through 5 innings allowing just a run but started off the sixth inning giving 3 hits on three pitches, that fateful 2nd pitch a long two-run Giancarlo Stanton bomb to right center field. Mejia gave way to Carlos Torres soon after and the two let in 6 runs in the frame, all charged to Mejia, as the Mets fell behind 6-5. The Mets got a run back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game up thanks to an Adeiny Hechavarria error.

Things were even at six until the tenth inning when Kyle Farnsworth allowed an opposite field home run to Jarrod Saltalamacchia to give Miami a 7-6 lead. After that, Steve Cishek closed it out with a scoreless inning in the tenth, thanks to some generous calls by the home plate umpire.
