The New York Mets squeezed out a come-from-behind win against the Miami Marlins after the Fish themselves came back from behind early. Steve Cishek blew his first save since April of 2013 and the Marlins took another loss at the bullpen's hands.

The Miami Marlins had to claw back from behind early in this game against the New York Mets, and they did so thanks to another strong effort by their power department. After Henderson Alvarez allowed two early runs to the Mets, the Marlins used the home run from two new additions to bring themselves back into the game. The Fish scored their first run of the game in the fifth inning, when Zack Wheeler walked two men and threw a wild pitch leading up to a Marcell Ozuna single to bring home a run. But the eighth inning was the highlight for Miami, as Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Garrett Jones blasted back-to-back solo home runs to give Miami a slim 3-2 lead over the Mets.

In many nights, this Alvarez effort (four strikeouts, two walks, two runs in six innings) and those back-to-back jacks may have been enough for Miami heading into the ninth inning. Steve Cishek, the team's highly successful closer, had converted his previous 34 save attempts, a team record. But Cishek ran into trouble fairly quickly after a Lucas Duda single. The Mets sacrificed the runner over to second base and probably correctly played for one run. A Bobby Abreu pinch-hit fly out put the Mets with their backs to the wall with two outs.

Then the floodgates opened. Omar Quintanilla singled home the runner from second base to tie the game. Then Kirk Nieuweheis delivered the huge double that put runners at second and third. Free agent acquisition Curtis Granderson sealed the deal for the Mets with the single that drove home the winning run and sent the Citi Field fans home happy.

Miami still owns only one win in 11 tries on the road so far this season. It will look to go for it again tomorrow with Kevin Slowey on the mound for the Fish.
