The Mets' center fielder says he feels better after injuring his hamstring on Monday night against the Diamondbacks.

Mike Vorkunov of The Star-Ledgerreports that after an MRI, Mets team trainer Ray Ramirez believes that center fielder Juan Lagares will miss a week or two of action after suffering a strained hamstring on Monday in Arizona. In 55 plate appearances this season, Lagares is batting .314/.345/.471 with one home run, seven RBI, and eight runs scored. He's also still playing excellent defense.

In Lagares's absence, the Mets have started recent call-up Kirk Nieuwenhuis in center field in the past couple of games. Nieuwenhuis has gone 3-for-9 with a home run, four runs batted in, and a run scored.

Both Chris Young and Curtis Granderson are expect to return to the Mets' lineup on Friday night as the team begins a three-game series against the Braves. That will create a logjam of sorts, with five outfielders on the active roster: Young, Granderson, Eric Young Jr., Andrew Brown, and Nieuwenhuis. Since the team is still carrying both Lucas Duda and Ike Davis, it will have to remove someone from the active roster to make room for Chris Young's activation.
