The Mets' right fielder left the fifth inning of Monday's game against the Diamondbacks after slamming into the wall in the first inning.

Marc Carig reports that Terry Collins plans to start Curtis Granderson on Friday night against Atlanta at Citi Field. The Mets' right fielder left the game at the end of the fifth inning of Monday night's victory over the Diamondbacks. Granderson's speedy return is good news for a depleted Mets outfield that also suffered the loss of center fielder Juan Lagares in that same game.

Granderson did damage to his left side in the first inning Monday at Chase Field when he slammed into the right field wall trying to collect what ended up being a double off the bat of Miguel Montero. After the game it was reported that he had suffered contusions to his left forearm, ribs, and knee on the play.

Andrew Brown got the start in right field last night, and Kirk Nieuwenhuis was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to start in center.

In 55 plate appearances with the Mets this season, Granderson is batting .170/.291/.319.
