We lost at home to the (curse word)ing Mets. How do you think it went?
In recent days, Josh Collmenter and Mike Bolsinger have been named replacement starters. They both showed off tonight what they could do. Here's the twist: It wasn't too damn much.
It started off alright. Miguel Montero, batting cleanup, got the Diamondbacks in the scoring column first with an RBI double in the bottom of the 1st. Said double came when Curtis Granderson was not able to hold onto a ball he had started to catch when he ran into the outfield fence. It should be noted that later in the game, Granderson left with contusions basically everywhere conceivable from that hit, but x-rays for other worse things were negative, so that's good.
However, much like commenting on an internet post with "FIRST!!!", there was no value to anyone or anything to scoring that first run. The Mets scored the next two runs in the game by virtue of the RBI groundout. The first one came in the 2nd when Ruben Tejada grounded out to score Lucas Duda. The second came in the 3rd when David Wright grounded out to score Eric Young Jr. It should also be noted that the aforementioned Mr. Young Jr. got on base through a Chris Owings throwing error, so we got that going for us. Also in that 3rd inning, Camptown Races Doubles In a Run: Duda, Duda. Daniel Murphy scored to make it 3-1 Mets.
The Diamondbacks were able to add another run in the bottom of the inning on a Miguel Montero sacrifice fly. That sounds good in a vacuum, but that play was bases-loaded with one out, and Aaron Hill decided to get himself thrown out at third to complete the double play and not have any more runs score that inning.
Collmenter pitched a clean 4th inning, and apparently that was it for Gibby, who brought in newly called-up Mike Bolsinger in the 5th. Today would have been his normal scheduled start for Reno, so he's still on track to start on Saturday, before you ask.
Bolsinger proceeded to give up two runs on singles by Granderson and Duda. Those would be the only runs he allowed, and he was beaten by an ill-timed shift that would have been a double play ball, and he did pitch scoreless 6th and 7th innings, but it was not the most auspicious beginning for the newest member of the Diamondbacks.
The Mets added two more runs in the 8th off of Ryan Rowland-Smith, and the Diamondbacks got one more in the bottom of that inning on a Montero single that scored Paul Goldschmidt. That was that. All in all, a very not-great effort by the team, as has been their wont this season. Pretty soon, the only interest will be seeing who gets fired, traded, and who the top overall prospects in the 2015 draft are.

These two teams play tomorrow, if you wanna watch. I mean, I'm not saying you should or shouldn't, just you might have better options out there. I mean, you should probably do your taxes if you haven't already.
