Final Score: Mets 6, Reds 3—Ike Davis says 'challenge accepted!'

Ike Davis hit a walk-off pinch hit grand slam and Dillon Gee pitched seven-and-one-third effective innings to give the Mets a thrilling victory.

Coming off of their first win of the season, the Mets looked to keep momentum in their favor against the Cincinnati Reds.  This game featured a matchup of two Opening Day starters, with Dillon Gee taking the mound for the Mets, facing off against Johnny Cueto of the Reds.  Both pitchers lived up to the billing, with Cueto pitching 7 innings of 2-run ball, racking up 9 strikeouts and 3 walks.  He held the Mets hitless until the 5th inning, when Ruben Tejada laced a double to the right field gap. The lone blemish on Cueto's record came in the bottom of the 6th, when Curtis Granderson launched his first home run as a Met, a 2-run shot that scored David Wright, who had reached on a fielder's choice.

Gee turned in an impressive outing as well, pitching 7.1 innings while striking out 4 and walking one. But the long ball proved to be his undoing, giving up a solo shot to Ryan Ludwick in the fifth, and a 2-run home run to Brandon Phillips in the eighth, accounting for all three runs scored by the Reds.  The second home run was the end of Gee's day.

The bullpen prevented any further damage, only allowing one baserunner in the form of a single in the 9th inning to Todd Frazier.  Down one run, The Mets loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 9th inning, in a rally that included an overturned out call at second base on an Anthony Recker sacrifice bunt attempt.  A Ruben Tejada walk loaded the bases for pinch-hitter Ike Davis, who launched a no-doubt home run for a walk off grand slam.
