The young ace will come up north with the team.
Matt Harvey will continue his rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery in New York City once the season begins, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York. He will not, however, travel with the team on its road trips. Of course, the fact that Harvey didn't want to do his rehab at the Mets' complex in Port St. Lucie was a hot topic over the past few weeks.
Harvey cited the fact that he wanted to be around his teammates while he continues the process of strengthening his surgically repaired arm. Considering he's simply throwing from short distances at this point and doing other non-pitching workouts, there's little doubt Harvey can do his work outside of St. Lucie. Once he's ready to pitch to minor league batters, Harvey will return to St. Lucie, which also makes perfect sense.
In conclusion, the Mets and Matt Harvey came to a perfectly reasonable compromise and put an end to any possible LOLMets.
