AAA -Las Vegas 51s (41-38)__________________________________

LAS VEGAS 9, TACOMA 0 (Box)

The 51s power was on full display on Cheney Stadium last night, as our Pacific Coast League heroes slugged four home runs in a 9-0 win over the Rainiers. Kai Gronauer and Francisco Pena each hit one off James Paxton (the latter of which chased him from the game in the sixth inning) and Rylan Sandoval and Brian Bixler added solo home runs of their own off Tacoma reliever Forrest Snow. Recently signed depth guy Giancarlo Alvarado pitched six stellar innings and was followed by a scoreless inning apiece from Greg Peavey, Sean Henn, and D.J. Mitchell.

AA -Binghamton Mets (48-28)_____________________________________

TRENTON 3, BINGHAMTON 7 (Box)

Cory Mazzoni held court for six innings in Binghamton last night as the B-Mets defeated the Thunder 7-3. His only rough patch was the top of second, in which he allowed three runs on four hits, however, the offense was clicking all night against Trenton starter Zach Nuding, and Travis Taijeron's two-run home run in the fourth gave Bingo the lead for good. Mazzoni finished the night with ten strikeouts, and Adam Kolarek earned a two-inning save, his first of the season.

Hi-A -St. Lucie Mets (41-35)________________________________________

PALM BEACH 5, ST LUCIE 2 F/10 (Box)

T.J. Chism was in line to save a victory for Matt Bowman in the top of the ninth, however, he allowed the Cardinals to tie the game in the frame and subsequently take the lead with three in the tenth to truly sink St. Lucie's chance at victory. Darn.

Lo-A -Savannah Sand Gnats(47-30)__________________________________

ROME 0, SAVANNAH 3 (Box)

Grayson Stadium is the home to many a pitcher's duel by virtue of it being the most pitcher-friendly park in the minors according to Baseball America's minor league park factors. Last night was no exception as the Braves' Mauricio Cabrera and the Sand Gnats' Matthew Koch did not blink for seven innings apiece, and no scoring was to be had until Savannah bats woke up in the bottom of the eighth against Rome reliever Robert Fish:

Paul Sewald pitched the final 1.2 innings in scoreless relief to earn the win.

Short-A - Brooklyn Cyclones (5-6)_____________________________

BROOKLYN 7, HUDSON VALLEY 4 (Box)

Go Clones!

R - Kingsport Mets (2-7)_____________________________

KINGSPORT 1, GREENEVILLE 2 F/15 (Box)

42 combined strikeouts in this game, albeit it took 15 innings to determine a winner. The K-Mets struck out a whopping 25 times last night, which will happen in the Appy League.

R - GCL Mets (1-4)______________________________

GCL NATIONALS 6, GCL METS 5 (Box)

This game was a carbon copy of what occurred in The Show last night. Drat.

Star of the Night

Matt Bowman, yo.

Goat of the Night

Sorry Michael Bernal, but a platinum sombrero will get you here regardless of the level you're playing at.
