The White Sox sign an ineffectively wild pitcher and clear up the middle infield situation a little.

The White Sox have added to their bullpen depth yet again by signing former Cardinal RHP Maikel Cleto and clear up a 40-man roster spot for him by designating Jake Elmore for assignment.

Cleto is now joining his fifth organization having previously been in the Mets, Mariners, Cardinals, and Royals minor league systems.  He has appeared 13 games in the majors for the Cardinals over the past three season, but after a Nuke LaLoosh-esqe appearance with the Cardinals last season (5 hits, 5 runs, 5 strikeouts, 1 walk, and 2 HBP in 2⅓ innings), he was waived and picked up by the Royals where he finished the season in Triple-A Omaha.

Cleto throws a mid 90's fastball, mid-80's slider, and, you guessed it, a mid 90s sinker, with an occasional change.  On the "Coop'll fix 'em" side, Cleto will require a lot more help than "Rose goes in the front, big guy."  Last season in the minors, he threw 7.3 walks and 8.8 strikeouts per nine innings with a 5.52 ERA between Triple-A stops.

As for Jake Elmore, we barely got to know him.  With the crowded middle infield, it didn't seem he had much of a chance to break camp to the Sox.  Actually, even Charlotte seemed like a crowded place for him too, so this might actually be the best thing for him.
