The former Mets relief pitcher will return to Milwaukee again this year.
The Mets and Francisco Rodriguez won't reunite any time soon, as the 32-year-old relief pitcher has signed a one-year, $3.25 million deal with the Brewers. Rodriguez can make another $550,000 in incentives.
Signed by the Mets before the 2009 season, Rodriguez often got into jams with the team but was quite effective overall. Of course, that all might have been overshadowed by the time he got himself arrested in the Mets' clubhouse. Since the Mets traded him away—in large part to get out from under a $17.5 million vesting option—he's been pretty good.
As the season draws closer, the Mets' options for veteran bullpen arms are dwindling. The team signed Kyle Farnsworth to a minor league deal earlier this week. Rodriguez was among the relief pitchers profiled here at Amazin' Avenue this offseason. Many of the desirable free agent options have signed deals elsewhere over the past couple of days.
