In terms of performance, the past week was a good one for Mets pitchers. The team went 5-3 in eight games on the road — five in Atlanta and three in Philadelphia. It's tough to get too excited about things when one of the members of the rotation exited with a possibly-terrible shoulder injury, but things could look worse for Mets team right now if their other pitchers were struggling.

For the season, Mets pitchers have a 4.06 ERA that ranks 17th in baseball, and their 3.72 FIP ranks 5th. They've done so despite a bullpen that ranks in the bottom five in baseball in both stats. This week's player meter covers all of the games the Mets played from June 17 through 23.

David Aardsma, RHPOf all the minor deals the Mets made before and during the 2013 season, Aardsma didn't figure to make much of an impact. But he's been very good, and this week was more of that.
Scott Atchison, RHPOfficially speaking, Atchison made one appearance for the Mets this week. He threw zero pitches, though, as he left with an injury while warming up on the mound at Turner Field on the same day he was activated from the disabled list.
Greg Burke, RHPHe appeared just once this week, as he's gotten the Heath Bell treatment all season, but that one appearance went well.
Josh Edgin, LHPEven in limited playing time, it's good to see Edgin having some success. He's probably a lot better than he looked in the first two months of the season.
Dillon Gee, RHPIt was an uneven week for Gee, who's been excellent over the past few weeks. He totaled 10 K and 1 BB in 13.1 innings over two starts, but he gave up 4 HR.
Matt Harvey, RHPJust 19 more strikeouts in 13 innings with a 2.08 ERA for the week. Harvey's so good that this sort of performance is the norm.
LaTroy Hawkins, RHPIt was an excellent week out of the pen for Hawkins, who now has a 3.52 ERA and 3.80 FIP on the season. The average NL relief pitcher has a 3.59 ERA and 3.73 FIP.
Jeremy Hefner, RHPAlthough he gave up tons of hits, Hefner notched 6 K to just 1 BB in 6 IP. He might not get away with allowing just 2 runs in that scenario every time, but the end result here was good.
Brandon Lyon, RHPHe might not have been dominant, but his 4.2 IP went reasonably well.
Shaun Marcum, RHPI liked the Shaun Marcum signing a lot at the time it happened. I've been patient with his struggles, too, but it's getting harder to do. His start this week was dreadful.
Jon Niese, LHPUh oh. The phrase "partially torn rotator cuff" is a scary one for a pitcher.
Bobby Parnell, RHPProven Closer Bobby Parnell.
Scott Rice, LHPWalks are still a big problem for Rice, but he appeared four times and wasn't charged with a run. After a long string of bad weeks, this was a good one.
Carlos Torres, RHPDespite allowing a home run, Torres looked strong with 5 K, 1 BB, and a 2.70 ERA in 3.1 innings of work. Perhaps the Mets were on to something when they cleared a 40-man roster spot for him.
Zack Wheeler, RHP--Despite walking 5 opposing hitters, Wheeler managed 6 scoreless frames with 7 K. It was a good debut, and there might be better things to come.
