Harvey Day did not disappoint yesterday, as Matt Harvey tossed six scoreless innings with six strikeouts and the offense pounded out nine extra-base hits en route to an 8-0 drubbing of the Phillies. Harvey was pulled after a 20-minute rain delay with the Mets leading 6-0 and probably could have pitched deeper into the game. David Wright was the hitting star, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, and a ninth-inning home run for good measure. The Mets won the series, making it two road-series victories in a row.

Great news! David Wright has overtaken Pablo Sandoval in National League third base All-Star voting. It's a relatively slim lead though, so keep voting until the July 4th, 11:59 pm deadline. Don't stop the voting.
Adam Rubin thinks Matt Harvey should start the All-Star Game. Me: agree.
Mark Simon at ESPN New York presented his "Series in Metrics" post about the Mets-Phillies series.
Some weird things happened in yesterday's game: the usually sure-handed Ben Revere looked shaky in center field and Wright's home run was seemingly hit with one hand (see picture above). Metstradamus wondered if the Supermoon was to blame for the weirdness. Greg Prince enjoyed The Midday Flub of Ben Revere.
Rising Apple looked at Eric Young, Jr.'s performance so far. Young is hitting .364/.417/.500 in 24 plate appearances with the Mets. Pretty good!
The Mets chose not to promote Ike Davis after Lucas Duda hit the DL because several of the Mets' upcoming opposing pitchers are lefties. Ike isn't so good against lefties.

Around the Majors
The Cardinals and Rangers played late last night after a three-hour rain delay, with the Rangers winning 2-1. Adam Wainwright pitched well for the Cardinals but not well enough. The Rangers swept the series.
The Yankees held their annual Old-Timers Day yesterday. El Duque made his debut appearance and even played an inning at shortstop.
Gaslamp Ball did some paparazzi work and noted that former Padres owner Jeff Moorad attended a Pads game this weekend.
Finally, Dayn Perry asks if Carlos Beltran is a Hall of Famer. I say yes but I'm pessimistic about his chances.
